On Saturday, August 19 at 2pm the Galena Public Library will screen the documentary film, “Tribal Justice” and host a discussion.
The film features two Native American judges who use traditional concepts of justice in order to reduce incarceration rates, foster greater safety for their community, and create a more positive future for their youth. By addressing the root causes of crime, they are modeling restorative systems that are working. Mainstream courts across the country have taken notice.
This event is in collaboration with POV, the award winning independent non-fiction film series on PBS and is a co-production with Vision Maker Media and American Documentary.
Light refreshments will be served.
