Jordan Schnitzer bought his first work of art from his mother’s Portland, Oregon contemporary art gallery at age 14, beginning his lifelong avocation as collector. He began collecting contemporary prints in 1988 and today, the collection exceeds 10,000 works, many by important contemporary artists, making it one of the country’s largest private print collections. Honoring his family’s longtime commitment to supporting art and culture, Mr. Schnitzer created the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation, generously lending the work from his collection to qualified institutions. The Museum’s exhibition Shiny, Sticky, Smooth: Pop Art and the Senses features works from Mr. Schnitzer’s collection.
