Sandy Hook Tavern (3868 Badger Rd, Hazel Green, WI)
Please, no letters to the editor. “Hookers” are what people who love to hang out at the Sandy Hook call themselves. If you’ve been to the Hook this year, you’re probably a convert yourself.
Owner Ashley Lawrence has made significant investments in outdoor staging, covered social space and a great food truck you might have read about in a recent issue of 365ink. He’s also make a big investment in the support of local charities all summer long and deserves a toast to his efforts for helping our community.
What better place to toast him that at Hookerfest 2015! Yup, all day long, live music rock the Hook inside and out culminating in the headlining show by Brandon Gibbs at 10:30 PM, featuring Sal Giancarelli of Staind, Joel Kosche of Collective Soul and Dave Schwarm formerly of the Gibbs Brothers.
Brandon is an Iowa native who’s made a mark for himself in the biz, first in the Gibbs Brothers Band and most recently in Cheap Thrill with Eric Brittingham and Jeff Labar from Cinderella and Troy Patrick Farrell from White Lion. John Force and ESPN also use Brandon’s song “This Town” in their NHRA promotion. A powerful singer and guitarist, Brandon’s live set will show you why fame is on it’s way for this Iowa-born rocker. It’s 10 bands in 9 hours. Tickets are a measly $13 in advance (at the Hook, Moondog Music in Dubuque, or Badcat Tattoo in Platteville, WI) or $18 at the door. The show is on rain or shine thanks to the awesome awnings Ash put up this summer. Music starts at 5 PM. So rest up, you’ve got a lot of Hookin’ to do!
