Iowa Governor Emergency Declarations

Iowa Governor Emergency Declarations

Iowa’s salons, barber shops, medical spas, massage therapists, tattoo shops and swimming pools will be closed until March 31, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced at a news conference Sunday.

She signed an executive order today, which will take effect at 10 p.m. Sunday, she said. She has also suspended foreclosures on residential, commercial and agriculture properties.

There are now 90 positive cases of the novel coronavirus in Iowa — half of which were announced this weekend. COVID-19 is now in 24 counties.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds emergency declaration has suspended penalties and interest related to property taxes as well as limited landlords’ options to order evictions. The declaration also permits carry-out, delivery drive-thru sales of alcohol in the midst of a viral pandemic. You have to admit, that last one is kind of funny.
