Build A Better Block 2018
See the Potential on Central September 14-23, 2018
Dubuque Main Street is excited to announce our lineup for the Build-A-Better-Block event on the 1800 Block of Central Avenue. From filling vacant storefronts with pop-up shops, to a public art installation, events and colorful streetscape amenities, the community is invited to this engaging weeklong event and celebrate the Potential on Central.
This initiative includes street art, temporary furniture, permanent art installations (one completed by a local artist and the other completed like a paint-by-numbers panel by the general public), family challenges during a live DJ, a throw down between local chefs, family and “serious about” arts events and even a chance to sport glow attire while listening to the Brews Brothers Band just to start. All are invited to share in our NEW event and engage with the Potential on Central!
Special thanks to our event sponsors: Dubuque Bank & Trust, Dubuque Racing Association, Telegraph Herald Media and Radio Dubuque.
Guests attending our event will find the following pop-ups and permanent retailers on the 1800 Block of Central:
1800 Central: Rosie Ray Relics (Permanent)
1812 Central : Charlotte’s 2.0
1820 Central: Merry Pop-In Shoppe
1824 Central: Dubuque Main Street
1838 Central: Upcycle Dubuque (Permanent)
1842 Central: Graham’s 2.0
1850 Central: Active Endeavors

To partner with our pop-up retailers, DMS is fortunate to have an extensive line up of events. From family friendly to lunch-n-learns to a Chef’s Cook-Off, our vision is to reflect the beauty and promise that lies within this neighborhood. As part of our mission, we look to bring the community together to visualize the Potential on Central. Set up will be Friday, September 14– Saturday, September 15, 2018.
